A Journey of Love: How One Family Found Their Forever

Kim and David Sasser never imagined how their lives would change when they first set foot on Goshen Valley Boys Ranch. Like many others, they arrived as volunteers, eager to serve and support the children who called The Ranch home. But amidst their time helping and giving back, they met two brothers who would forever change their story.

From the start, there was an undeniable connection. The boys, in need of love, stability, and belonging, found comfort in the Sassers’ kindness and presence. As their bond deepened, Kim and David felt a calling that could not be ignored. What if they could do more? What if they could offer not just support but a home?

With open hearts, they began the journey of becoming licensed foster parents through Goshen Valley. For eight months, their home became a safe haven—a place where the boys could thrive, heal, and experience what it meant to be truly cherished. They shared meals, laughter, and milestones. They built memories that turned a house into a home.

Then on February 3rd, 2025 that home became permanent. The Sassers finalized the adoption, officially becoming a forever family.

Their story is a powerful testament to the impact of fostering. What began as volunteering transformed into something life-changing—not just for the boys but for the Sassers as well. Through Goshen Valley, they discovered the beauty of opening their hearts and home, proving that sometimes the greatest blessings come when we least expect them.

At Goshen Valley, we believe that every child deserves a family. Because of supporters like you, we can continue creating stories like the Sassers’. If you’ve ever considered fostering, adopting, or supporting children in need, we encourage you to take that next step. You never know—you just might find your forever family along the way.
