Goshen Valley is accredited by the The Council on Accreditation (COA), an internationally recognized body that develops operational standards and measurements for social service organizations.  Originally known as an accrediting body for family and children’s agencies, COA currently accredits 47 different service areas and over 125 types of programs. Currently, COA accredits or is in the process of accrediting more than 1,800 private and public organizations or programs that serve more that 7 million individuals and families in the United States, Canada, Bermuda, Belgium, Cuba, Germany, Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the Philippines and the United Kingdom. Goshen Valley is accredited through July 31, 2020.

The COA accreditation process involves a detailed review of an organization’s administrative, management and service delivery functions against international standards of best practice. Accreditation encourages services to deliver appropriate, coordinated, culturally competent and evidence-based services provided by a skilled and supported workforce. From a donor’s or a funder’s perspective, accreditation offers details on a number of performance metrics:

  • Validates that high quality services are being delivered
  • Guarantees sound financial practices
  • Confirms the efficient operation of an organization
  • Confirms the implementation of protective policies for fraud and mistrust
  • Ensures that risk management protections are in place
  • Can be used as a tool to identify grant recipients
