The Spirit of Goshen

Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” – Albert Einstein

Service, kindness, and generosity—these values are the heart of Goshen. As we welcome the new year, we are excited to embrace this spirit of love, hope, and resilience that has been the foundation of Goshen for over 25 years. This spirit has been shaped by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, foster parents, and families, and it’s something we are proud to celebrate today and into the future.

The Spirit of Goshen is more than just a phrase—it’s a feeling that can be found in everything we do. It’s the reason our staff and foster parents dedicate themselves to this cause, and the reason why families feel supported and loved, even in their hardest moments. Whether you’re part of Goshen or witnessing the kindness of others in the community, this spirit is alive and present. It’s at the heart of every program, every event, and every interaction.

You can see the Spirit of Goshen in our mission and values. Goshen Valley’s mission is to provide hope and healing to foster youth and vulnerable families through trauma-responsive, relational services that promote personal growth and generational change. Our core values reflect this spirit:

  • Faith: Jesus taught us to love one another, and His love guides everything we do.
  • Family: Healthy families make a strong community. We’re here to empower and support families in every way we can.
  • Service: We aim to lead by serving, offering our talents and resources to those who need them most.
  • Wellness: The mental and emotional health of each individual is essential to the well-being of the entire family. We care for every member of the family.
  • Learning: We believe in learning from each other and embracing new perspectives that help us grow.
  • Excellence: We hold ourselves to the highest standards, ensuring quality care and service at all times.
  • Integrity: Trust is crucial in our work. We protect and care for every individual we serve with respect and responsibility.
  • Innovation: We continuously seek new solutions to meet the evolving needs of families.

But nothing displays the Spirit of Goshen quite like our programs.

Goshen Valley Boys Ranch

Located on 160 acres in Waleska, Georgia, Goshen Valley Boys Ranch offers a family-style home for 40 boys in foster care, ages 8-18. With therapeutic counseling, education, and recreational activities, our goal is to provide each young man with love, stability, and the hope of a brighter future.

Goshen New Beginnings

Goshen New Beginnings supports young adults, ages 18-21, as they transition from foster care to independent living. Through housing, education, job opportunities, and life skills training, we provide them with the tools and support they need to build a successful and fulfilling life.

Goshen Homes

Goshen Homes provides foster care placements in local communities, allowing children to stay in familiar schools, churches, and neighborhoods. Our focus is on keeping siblings together, or reunifying them, to ensure that children experience stability and support during a challenging time.

Goshen Therapeutic Services

Goshen Therapeutic Services, located at The Family Resource Center (FRC), offers licensed therapy and preventative services to help strengthen families and support youth in their growth. Through various grants and programs, Goshen Therapeutic Services works to prevent foster care placements and improve family dynamics for better outcomes.

Our hope is that every family we serve feels the Spirit of Goshen—a spirit of support, empowerment, and renewal. One of the most powerful examples of this is the 52 families who were reunited in 2024 with the help of Goshen Therapeutic Services. Through dedicated therapy, resources, and preventative support, we work to restore and strengthen family bonds, giving parents the tools they need to create a safe and stable home. Every reunited family is a testament to the heart of Goshen—a place where healing happens, hope is restored, and lives are changed for the better.

One of the most beautiful things about Goshen is that it truly feels like a family. This family includes our staff, houseparents, kids, foster parents, volunteers, and the entire community. We invite you to carry the Spirit of Goshen with you in your everyday life. Be generous, encourage others, and consider supporting Goshen through volunteering or a donation. Together, we can spread this spirit even further.
