Partnership Spotlight: Goshen & Cherokee Family Violence Center

At Goshen, we believe that real, lasting change happens through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to families. One partnership that continues to make a deep impact is our work alongside the Cherokee Family Violence Center (CFVC), an organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence through emergency shelter, advocacy, prevention, and supportive services.

As Rachel S, a therapist with Goshen Therapeutic Services, shared, this partnership is more than collaboration. It is a relationship-centered, community-based approach that supports both moms and their children as they navigate the aftermath of significant trauma. Rather than focusing on one individual or one service, our team comes alongside entire families to help provide safety, stability, healing, and hope.

Through this partnership, Goshen has been able to offer wraparound, trauma-responsive services directly on site at CFVC. These include individual therapy, support groups, behavioral aide services, leadership-based groups for teenage boys, and therapeutic opportunities for children and teens. By meeting families where they live, we are able to remove common barriers like transportation, childcare, and access to care.

What makes this partnership especially meaningful is the depth of care provided. Many of the families served have experienced complex trauma including domestic violence, abuse, housing instability, and ongoing financial stress. Because of this, our approach is intentionally consistent, culturally responsive, and grounded in safety and trust.

Rachel shared that one of the most powerful outcomes has been the opportunity to create spaces where healing happens through relationships and community. Moms are able to process their experiences, build connections, and access resources, while children and teens experience emotional support, growth, and safe, stable relationships with caring adults.

At CFVC, Goshen has become known as a place for “help and healing.” That trust speaks volumes about what can happen when organizations work together with a shared mission. As Rachel put it, partnerships like this do more than provide services. They create dignity, consistency, hope, and lasting change for families.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside CFVC and to continue building pathways toward healing for the families in our community.
